It is one of India’s oldest national parks which located in the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttaranchal it is named after hunter, conservationist and writer Jim Corbett. One of the first tiger reserves was this park in the country in 1973 where Project Tiger was launched. The Corbett Tiger Reserve nesting in the Mighty Himalayas lies mainly in the hilly districts of Almora, Pauri Garhwal and Nainital. One of the very few national parks is Corbett National Park Corbett tiger reserve is perhaps in India. Corbett is extremely rich in bio diversity and it supports a rich variety of habitat because of its geographic location.
The camp is surrounded by mixed deciduous forests that are extremely rich in birdlife and wildlife it is situated in the village of Bhakrakot. An excellent place to discover and examine the fauna and flora of this region is Camp Forktail Creek. A haven for over 25 kinds of reptiles, 50 mammals and 580 birds is Corbett. Marsh crocodiles and fish eating gharial are basking on the banks of the Ramganga River. The camp is named after the Forktail that visit these forests in the winters which is in northern India along with other species make an area a favorite birding ground.
For nature lovers this place provides a complete adventurous campaign experience. At this camp there are number of activities that take place such as game viewing on the elephant back, overnight trips to the national park, full or half day game drives, angling, extended trips on the elephant back, overnight hikes in the jungle, birding and rafting in the Kosi river. The tents each one comes with a private sundeck and placed on wooden platforms. We discourage the electricity use being a forest camp instead oil lamps and lanterns are used in the nights. Its mystery of enhancing and oil lit lanterns add to the mystifying atmosphere of Forktail Camp Creek at nights.
